Rumman walked into class quietly and in a hurry. She denied all donuts offered to her, and sat in silence. She ate pretzels and a snicker bar at snack time, hoping to gain energy for her big day. She was applying for a job at Urban Outfitters. Rumman had dreamt of working at Urban Outfitters her entire life. Whenever she walked into the homey store, she would stare down the cashier workers there observing their hip actions. She wanted to be just like them. She went home every day and practiced in the mirror. “Hey what’s up? Just the striped hoody and the jeans? Alright, sounds great!”
She continued to think about all this in silence when Teacher Kate smacked a huge white board upon Rumman’s desk. Rumman was very startled and produced a very frightened facial expression. She shied away with her glitter glue and created a cardboard facebook. It took her all of 15 minutes. Looking around her, she noticed that others had not yet completed their facebooks. She had worked quickly and efficiently. She again began to think about her job interview. It made her nervous. She began to text her friend Megan Doe. Megan consoled her, but Rumman knew that Megan could not care less.

The screaming, yelling, fighting. Hearing constant cursing back and forth. Blood flying across his face onto the wooden floor, tears rolling down my face. My eyes looking shot red. I can’t stop crying. The pain. The misery. I hate this; why didn’t I have a voice?

Character Sketch-Chang
Chang sat at his desk looking down at the tan colored table. He didn’t say much to anyone. While looking down at the desk he fiddled with his glasses. Students started to pile into the classroom: talking, laughing, making noise. Chang still remained silent, not letting anyone hear his Taiwanese accent. He was too busy thinking about what he was going to do when he got home, probably nothing.
A teacher walked into the classroom and told everyone to get out their notebooks. Chang did so accordingly. The teacher started lecturing about the fall of the Roman Empire, while Chang doodled on the side of his paper. Although not paying much attention to his teacher, when asked a question, he answered it correctly. At the end of class, the teacher handed back a test from last Tuesday. Chang received a B, however, he didn’t care much. The bell rang and Chang scooted out of class with his blue and white running sneakers. While making his way to his next class, he thought about if he wanted to play a computer game when he got home, or not.

When she walked into the classroom I saw her wearing a green and white head band and matching top. She was also wearing a pair of blue jeans. Every time I looked at Alex’s face I saw that she had a smile on her face. This told me that she is confident with herself and outgoing. Honestly she isn’t the tallest person in the world but she makes up for it by being so friendly and wearing bright and luminous jewelry. She is also very smart because she going to the best High School in the city, Masterman. She is so concerned with how she looks that she will sacrifice being comfortable to look good. For example on Tuesday she was wearing a red top. She then began to tell me that it made her uncomfortable, then I asked “why are you wearing it then?” then she said ” because it matched the rest of my outfit.”
